The Psychology of Money and Success: Boundaries
There are dramatic differences in what we say versus what we do. Often, the reason is so simple that we can’t believe it would affect us. I call these boundaries.
I’m not a theories person, so I’ll keep it short: These are the the 2 types of boundaries: Active boundaries, the kind that stop you from doing something, and passive boundaries, whose absence actually stops you from getting things done.
I think the source of 95%+ of what’s keeping us from success is…ourselves. It’s not our lack of resources (money, education, etc). It’s not our competition.
It’s usually just what’s in our own heads. Boundaries are more than just excuses–they’re the things that make us not get anything done.
And not only do we allow them to exist around us, we encourage them. There are active boundaries and passive boundaries, but the result is still the same: We don’t achieve what we want to.
Think about the last time you overcame a big challenge. Chances are it started with just one thing. One thing done well. Followed by another thing. And another. And so on.
Just start making a list of what you need to overcome – and soon you’ll realize that every boundary can be lifted once you became aware of it – so take a simple step of becoming aware that a boundary is just you stopping yourself.
We all want one or all of the following:
- To make a 6 or 7 figure plus income on the Internet
- To be able to travel and enjoy life
- To afford an awesome lifestyle
Now let’s take a step back and lake a look a reality:
- You can’t seem to get started or isn’t going anywhere
- You’re feeling stuck and overwhelmed
- You’re realizing that there is no magic bullet
What you think your solutions are:
- You need to know how to attract money online
- You need a system that makes success inevitable
- You need someone to do all the technical stuff
Did you read a bunch websites or blogs only to find how easy it is to make money online?
Some Internet marketing guru tell you that with their system, all you have to do is find a niche topic, create some content, write a eBook and sell 1,000 copies a week for $37?
I mean come on, look at the testimonials and all the endorsements from other rock star gurus, it’s a “proven” product right?
Well, I hate to break it to you, but most of these so called “gurus” are just playing on your emotions.
Whether it’s the desire to be successful, fear of failure or the frustration of not going anywhere, it’s all part of the psychology of persuasion.
Now I’m not going to bad mouth anyone but seriously, have you ever noticed that those Internet marketing gurus make it sound maybe…perhaps a little…too easy?
I know you’re smarter than that.
It’s why you’re here in the first place (I hope).
You’re ready to build a serious business doing what you love.
Define your success
Remember when you sign up for Profitable Knowledge, I wanted you to get clear on what you want to get out of the course?
There is a reason for doing that – I’m not in the business of telling people what success should be.
I’m here to help you get to the success you’ve defined.
Only you can definite what success look like. After all, it’s YOUR success right?
The problem with teaching people about how to make money, of course, is that it is entirely relative. To someone in the third-world country success is having $10,000 in the bank, but to someone like Donald Trump, a gazillion billion dollars probably won’t be enough.
Success doesn’t always have to do with money, but it always won’t work without any money. |
For me, I relate money to happiness and helping others achieving their goals.
Right now I spend about most of my time on helping others generat¬ing income doing what they love. The rest of the time I’m learning to cook, taking pictures of places I go, writing, playing basketball, and kicking it with my love ones.
The point is that money does not dictate entirely what success means to my life.
It’s cool to have a material things but it’s even cooler to be able to do the things you enjoy and get paid. I don’t have to pretend that I agree with someone that signs my paycheck. I don’t sell hype and deliver crap. I don’t manipulate others because I know how the game works.
So before we get into how much money you can make, you need to first know this.
What does success look like to you? And how do you measure it?

Hey, I’m not saying that you’ll have to slave over to build a profitable business slowly.
I’m saying that you’re smart enough to be looking for a long-term strategy that’s not going to get crushed when Google slaps you again or when Facebook follows the path of Myspace or Digg.
You’re just looking for a solid, reliable way to build a consistent income systematically.
Sounds good?
Let’s get something out of the way first so you know where the money really is at when it comes to Internet business.
Perception is reality
Do you know that only 3% to 5% of Internet businesses succeed and that includes the people who have spent thousands of dollars on courses, seminars, webinars and consulting?
What these gurus don’t tell you is that most of those product launches and training makes money because they’re designed to sell to hundreds and some even thousands.
Simply put, there is no money in the 1 on 1 business model!
If they can get 2,000 of you to pay $2,000 for a course, they make $4 million dollars and if they do that 3 or 4 times a year, it’s a nice little businesses isn’t it?
Because the money is in building “their” network! You buy their product. You’re part of the “endorsement exchange” network. |
And even this concept of building a business via network marketing or multilevel marketing (MLM) just doesn’t work like how it used to anymore.
Maybe 4-5 years ago when there weren’t as many competition and Internet weren’t full of junk and spam.
In 2011, you’re going to need a lot more than just a free website and traffic.
You need customers.
You need products that they want and it has to work.
You need a way to keep doing that.
When you add everything together, it’s a business.
And a real business needs real strategy.
Now that’s where I will be able to help you on, so make sure you’re in for the ride and stay tuned….there is plenty more where this came from.
